More than 240 migrants who were staying in an abandoned building of the Retirement Home in the center of Bihać, were relocated to a temporary tent settlement at the Lipa site.

The operation is carried out with the support of the members of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&H in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton.

-This is a continuation of the activity of relocation of migrants from the center of Bihać to the temporary tent settlement at Lipa, which is carried out by the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&H. This morning, 242 migrants were relocated from an abandoned building of the Retirement Home. In accordance with health and epidemiological measures, these people will be placed in a space for preventive isolation for a certain period of time. Also, a certain process of recognizing unaccompanied minors will be carried out at the Lipa site, after which the competent center for social work will be involved in everything- said Mirsad Buzar, Deputy Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&H.

Civil Protection Service of the City of Bihać initiated disinfection activities and started removing garbage from the facility after the migrants are relocated. The facility will then be closed with physical barriers.

The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&H also confirmed that similar activities of relocating migrants from the center of Bihać will be continued in the following period, in accordance with the accommodation capacities in the temporary tent settlement at the Lipa site.
